The time has come for Hjorvik the Valkyrie to move on and discover the world of Black Desert Online. Time to gain amity with other people, gain knowledge and gain energy.
During my early days in Olvia, I quickly found out that it was very important to get to know all the villagers by name. Traveling around town and talking to every merchant and villager helped me gain knowledge about the village. Before heading to the next settlement, it’s always a good idea to gain some amity with the people in the area. As I already discovered, amity can be gained by talking to people. The more people or things you know, the easier you will be able to gain amity.
Certain villagers even gave me additional information I could use to gain amity with other villagers. Others give new tasks and quests to complete. There are even some merchants which will offer you special items once you reach a certain amity level with them.
Gaining Breath, Strength and Health
In this episode we also cover how you can gain Breath, Strength and Health on your character. Gaining breath is done by walking around in the Black Desert Online world. Yes, it’s as simple as that. The more you run or walk, the faster you will raise you Breath. Strength is pretty similar, but requires you to walk around with a trade pack on your back. What’s even better is that both of these skills can be raised while being AFK!
How? Well … simply set up a path using your map and clicking with the ALT key. This allows you to set a predefined path your character will follow when you press the T key. Before closing the map screen, make sure you also press the ‘Auto Loop’ button. Why? Well, this will tell your character to walk from your current position to the next waypoint up until the last waypoint you set, then turn around and do the trip in the reverse order. I tried this approach, set up a path and left my character logged in while I went to bed. When I got up … it’s Breath raised from level 1 to 18 or so.
Health is something completely different and not as easy to skill. You gain health by eating food in the game. The more food you eat, the faster that health skill will raise. As you can see … it’s quite important to keep your character fed at all times. Health potions do not seem to count here … you have to eat real food!
