Yes … time for a game review, and this time we’re having a close look at Watch Dogs 2!
Watch Dogs 2
Watch Dogs 2 is the sequal to … well … Watch Dogs of course. The game is actually an open world action adventure set in Sand Fancisco. The main focus of the game is of course … hacking into the system. And hacking could be just about anything … use your phone to remotely trigger a short circuit, use your drones to infiltrate places where you couldn’t go, hack into camera systems and traffic lights, or simply mess with someone’s computer … it’s all up to you!

The great thing about the game is that you can actually choose how you play it. Personally, I’ve decided I wouldn’t be using guns if I didn’t have to. Depending on your playstyle, you could be an agressive hacker, a stealth hacker or even a trickster who relies on remote hacking. It’s all up to you … and you can even mix and match the different playstyles!

Story
You play the game as Marcus Holloway, and you’re an amazing hacker fighting against the system. Why? Well … becuase the establishment is using technology to take away some of your freedom … and you don’t like that! After a brief introduction / tutorial, you will join forces with DedSec and try to take back control from the establishment. While walking around the San Francisco Bay area, you will be doing some quests and complete DedSec operations. Your main goal is to gather followers, and you can do that by finishing varios single player / co-op or PvP events.

Gameplay
As I mentioned before, there are a few different playstyles you can use in Watch Dogs 2. Wether you are all about combat, stealth or want to use tricks to your advantage, you will find a playstyle that fits your own needs.

Apparently the game has also been balanced to make all three playstyles a viable option. And if you desire to do so, you could even mix and match playstyles.

During your adventures you might acquire new weapons or gadgets that might help you during your adventures. Can’t get past those pesky guards? Try to deploy your RC Jumper or Drone. Need to travel over big distances and don’t want to do it on foot? Hack or buy a car or bike and cruise around town! You can even use cranes and forklifts to move just about anything. You can even use trucks to your advantage to climb on roofs or over high fences.

There is so much to do in this game, that it’s actually too much to mention in this review. But when playing the game, do not be afraid to explore and try out new things!

Graphics
Ok … we have to admit … we don’t have a high end gaming setup (Yet), so we had to play the game on our MacPro (booted into Windows). But still … the game looks gorgeous on our system too!

Other
The game has a lot of humor, funny quotes and even some movie references, and we had lots of fun playing it. The only thing I had big issues with, was driving … but that got better as I adjusted the sensitivity of the controls.

The game also has a mouse centric UI design, which means … you can do anything with your mouse. It did happen quite a few times that I was drawing my gun without actually wanting to, just because the hachking tools can be found under the center mouse button. So instead of pressing the middle mouse button, I seemed to be pressing the right one quite a few times.
Our opinion
The game looks amazing and plays well (even on our system). There is so much to do in game and even more when doing co-op or PvP events, that you won’t be bored for a while. We had a blast playing the game, and still do … Even though I’m still the worst driver in the whole San Francisco Bay!
